Joseph A. Solobay was born and raised in Canonsburg and graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1949. The three years he spent in Korea and Japan during the Korean War in the 293rd Graves Registration Company allowed him to gain invaluable experience that he carried into his civilian career.
When he returned home from the War he married Elsie Donelich, with whom he had three children, Tim, Miriam Jo, and Mark. After the death of his first wife, he married Amy Fantini, with whom he now resides.
Joseph was a charter member of the Jefferson College Historical Society and its Treasurer/Membership Chairman for 40 years. He has amassed a wealth of knowledge and has thousands of pictures of Canonsburg. He has been a consultant to many researching the history of Canonsburg. Joseph has served on the Canonsburg Library Board for 25 years.
Joseph was an active funeral director for 65 years until 2014, when he reluctantly retired.
Sadly, Joseph passed away on March 19, 2016.

Darla Tripoli was a Licensed Funeral Director, a Licensed Insurance Agent and a Licensed Cosmetologist.
She was also a Certified Celebrant who created unique and personalized funeral services for families.
Darla assisted clients with funeral arrangements, monuments and final inscriptions. Based on her years of experience as a Funeral Director and pre-planning specialist, she gave wise, objective advice when a family was considering pre-planning funeral arrangements.
Darla graduated from The Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science and taught at the mortuary school part time. Darla and her husband, Paul, are survived by two children and two grandsons.
She was a member of The Bible Chapel in Peters Township where she grew up and went to high school.
