William J. Rock Jr.

William J. Rock Jr. age 72 of Meadow Lands, died Sunday, December 21, 2008 in Washington, following a brief illness.
He was born February 24, 1936 in Meadow Lands a son of William J. and Anna Shanto Rock Sr., and lived his entire life in Meadow Lands. Mr. Rock was a self-employed truck driver, and was a member of St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church in Canonsburg. He was a member of the Greek Catholic Union,the Pulaski Club and the Independent Club of Washington. An avid pool player, he belonged to the Players League and the APA Pool Players League.
Surviving is his wife of 45 years, Ruth Ann Gonglik Rock, a daughter, Mary Ann (Paul) Stevenson of Houston two granddaughters Nicole and Rachel Stevenson, two brothers, Richard (Sandra) Rock of Meadow Lands and Raymond (Sylvia) Rock of Washington, a sister Shirley (William) Jones of Library and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are one brother and one sister who both died in infancy.
Friends are welcome from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Tuesday in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg (724) 745-8120 where a blessing service will be held at 9:00 am on Wednesday, December 24, 2008 followed at 9:30 am Divine Liturgy in St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Jugan, Pastor, as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Michaels' Church Cemetery. A Panahida Service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church
