Former Mayview State Hospital
And PennDOT Employee

William M. "Chip" Lazorchak age 53 of Canonsburg, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at 3:00PM in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born on July 15, 1955, in Washington, the son of Rose Uram Lazorchak of Canonsburg and the late William Lazorchak.
Chip was a graduate of Canon-McMillan High School and Dean Institute of Technology, earning an associate in Specialized Technology Degree (Electrical Technician).
For many years, he was an employee of Mayview State Hospital, working both in the housekeeping department and in the electrical shop as an electrician.
Upon closure of Mayview, Chip accepted a position as a mechanic's assistant with PennDOT in the Tunnels Organization. The employees at the PennDOT garage, located near the Fort Pitt Tunnel out bound, are charged with maintaining the fleet of PennDOT vehicles.
He practiced the Russian Orthodox faith.
Chip enjoyed watching Steeler's football, tinkering at his work bench, vegetable gardening, working cross word puzzles, restoring his vintage Corvette and playing with the family schnauzer, Toot.
He was a member of the AGA, VFW Post 191, American Legion Post 902, the Labor Temple Association, the Italian Club and the Elks Lodge 846.
Surviving other than his mother, is sister, Shirley A. Lazorchak of Canonsburg, and several aunts, uncles and numerous cousins.
Friends are welcome on Friday, May 15, 2009 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg, where a Parastas will be held at 7:00 PM and where a service will be held at 12:30 PM on Saturday, May 16, 2009 followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00 PM at St. John Russian Orthodox Church with Father Joseph Oleynik as celebrant. Interment will follow in Oak Spring Cemetery, Canonsburg. Condolences may be expressed online at www.salandrafunerals.com
