William Danyo age 87 of Muse Bishop Road, McDonald died Wednesday March 21, 2012 in Allegheny General Hospital due to complications from a fall in his home. He was born November 12, 1924
in Muse a son of the late Michael Danyo and Mary Lopatra Danyo Oluich. His youth was spent in Jermyn, Pennsylvania prior to twenty years of service in the United States Marine Corps. He then lived most of his life in the Muse area.
Mr. Danyo served in World War II and Korea as a Master Sergeant E-7 in the Marine Corps Air Wing in the South Pacific and Far East. He was a member of the Mon Valley Leathernecks, the Marine Corps League Washington Detachment 1138 and was a life member of both Disabled American Veterans Association and the Palanka Club in Houston.
He was last employed at the former McGraw Edison Power Systems for six years. Mr. Danyo was a member of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church in Canonsburg. He enjoyed gardening, sports, music and was an avid outdoorsman who liked to fish and hunt.
On June 16, 1962 he married Virginia "Ginger" Camerson who survives. Also surviving are two sons; William Joseph Danyo at home and Michael C. Danyo and wife Christy of Canonsburg, three sisters Dorothy LaBella of Muse, Olga (Joseph) Mikus of McMurray and Sofia "Bunny" (Carl) Stoperich of Houston, a brother Michael Oluich of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren Courtnee Alyse and Shane Charles Danyo and Sierra Danyo and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to his parents are his stepfather Marko Oluich, a brother Edward Danyo who died September 3, 2011, a sister Eva Danyo who died at birth and a stepbrother Eli Oluich.
Friends are welcome from 2-8pm Thursday March 22, 2012 in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg, 724-745-8120 where services will be held at 10:00 am Friday March 24, 2012 with the Very Reverend Joseph Oleynik, pastor of St. John the Baptist Orthodox church officiating. Interment with full military rites will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Twp. Marine Corps Services will be held at 6:30pm Thursday in the funeral home by the Mon Valley Leathernecks and the Marine Corp. League Washington Detachment 1138.
