Wesley J. "Wes" Beam

Wesley J. "Wes" Beam age 64 of Canonsburg formerly of McKeesport passed away Sunday, September 22, 2013 in Canonsburg Hospital. He was born August 15, 1949 in McKeesport a son of the late Donald W. and Margy A. Zimmerman Beam. Mr. Beam lived most of his life in McKeesport where he graduated from McKeesport Area High School. He was Methodist by faith and had been employed for many years at United States Steel Irvin Works. He was last employed in security for Verizon. He was a United States Army veteran who received the army commendation medal for Meritorious Achievement in the Republic of Viet Nam. An avid sports fan, he loved music, crossword puzzles and enjoyed reading.
Mr. Beam is survived by a sister Sheri (Mike) Mitchell of Canonsburg, a brother Gary (Carol) Beam of North Strabane Twp. and nieces and nephews; Brittany and Chad Mitchell and Caitlin, Allyson and Patrick Beam.
Friends are welcome from 2-4 and 6-8pm Tuesday September 24, 2013 in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where services will be held at 9am Wednesday September 25, 2013 with pastor Max Miller officiating. Interment will follow at 10am in the National Cemetery of the Allegheny's, Cecil Twp. Full military rites will be accorded by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 of Canonsburg and the American Legion Post 902 of Houston. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Arthritis Foundation 790 Holiday Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15220.
