Walter J. Kent age 90 of Washington, formerly of Pittsburgh, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2013 in Washington Hospital.
He was born on September 28, 1922 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Walter F. and Zoe LaBrec Kent.
Mr. Kent served during World War II with the Untied States Navy as an electrician's mate second class.
He was self employed cleaning business. A very social able person, who enjoyed traveling and going to dances. Mr. Kent was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 764 of McMurray.
On October 25, 1942 he married his first wife Clare Hanna Kent who passed away August of 1978.
He had two sons the late James W. "Jim" Kent who passed away in 2011,daughter-in-law, Catharine L. Kent of Canonsburg , son, Lawrence A. Kent of New Jersey; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step children, step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
Deceased also are second wife Ruth Helterbran Kent who passed away November 4, 2009 and a brother, John Walter "Jack" Kent.
Friends are welcome on Sunday, May 5, 2013 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120, where a Blessing Service will be held on Monday, May 6, 2013 at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow at 1:00 PM in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville. Full military honors will be accorded by the combined honor guards of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 of Canonsburg and American Legion Post 902 of Houston
