Viola "Vi" Veres age 91, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, February 26, 2012, surrounded by her family.
She was born on April 6, 1920 in Canonsburg, the daughter of the late Lewie and Jennie Danlslaw Martino.
Mrs. Veres lived her entire life in Canonsburg, where she was a member of St. Patrick Church and Canonsburg Senior Citizens.
In her earlier years she was a cook for Kutch's. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and especially spending time with her daughters and grandchildren.
On November 14, 1948 she married her beloved husband, George M. Veres, who passed away on May 13, 2011.
Surviving are two daughters, Judy (David) Homerosky and Kimberly (John) Cecchine both of Canonsburg, six grandchildren, Matthew, Jason, Ariane and Alexander Homerosky, Corinne (Avery) Selvey and Justin Fee, six great-grandchildren; a sister, Louise Tonti of Houston and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased also are five sisters, Laura Venci, Lucy Krist, Thelma Bruno, Sue Raneri and Helen Polochak and five brothers, Joseph, Jerry, John and Albert Martino.
Friends are welcome on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where a Blessing Service will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 9:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Patrick Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Canonsburg.
