Victoria M. Golonka,age 82 of Canonsburg died at 7:45 pm Wednesday October 21, 2009, her birthday, in Kindred Hospital, Oakdale following a brief illness.
She was born October 21, 1927 in Crabtree, Westmoreland County a daughter of Walter and Josephine Kosharshy. Mrs. Golonka was a graduate of Chartiers High School and lived most of here life in Canonsburg where she was a member of St. Genevieve Church, now St. Patrick Parish and it's Christian Mothers and Guild. She had been employed for 16 at the former Canonsburg Foodland, loved polka dancing, bowling, being a TOPS member and spending time with her family.
On August, 25, 1951 she married John J. Golonka, her soul mate for the past 58 years. Also surviving are two sons, Kenneth Golonka of Canonsburg and Lawrence (Kimrlee) Golonka of North Hills and several nieces and nephews. She was the last of her immediate family. Deceased are two sisters, Ann Kraus and Agnes Dettore and three brothers, Frank, John and Mike Kosharsky.
Friends are welcome from 6-8pm Saturday and from 2-4 and 6-8pm Sunday in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/ supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg (724-745-8120) where a blessing service will be held at 9:30 AM Monday October 26, 2009.
