Victor T. Ogrodowski age 96 of Canonsburg, died Tuesday, November 01, 2011 in Canonsburg General Hospital.
He was born on January 27, 1915 in Wheeling, W.V.; the son of the late Thomas and Mary Prus Ogrodowski.
Mr. Ogrodowski served with the Untied States Army during World War II with Company D 29th Infantry Regiment as Technician fifth grade, receiving a Purple Heart Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Service Medal with two Bronze Stars and Victory Medal.
He lived most of his life in Canonsburg where he was a long time member of St. Genevieve Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191, and worked 34 years for Fort Pitt Bridge Works as a fork lift operator.
Mr. Ogrodowski enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, also enjoyed polka music and going to dances with his wife and was an avid gardener.
On October 25, 1941 he married Gertrude Meyer, who survives.
Also surviving is son, Eugene Ogrodowski of Canonsburg, daughter, Victoria (Don) Davidson of Washington, two grandchildren, Tanya (Gaspar) Barcinas and Rich (Shawn) Ogrodowski; five great-grandchildren, Gabriella, Grayson, Trey, Drew and Ryland and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased also are three sisters, Veronica Serwatka, Elizabeth Yanosik and Cecelia Chess and five brothers, Michael, Joseph, Sylvester, Alexander and Francis Ogrodowski.
Friends are welcome on Thursday, November 3, 2011 from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 714-745-8120, where a Blessing Service will be held on Friday, November 4 2011 at 9:30am. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00am in St. Patrick Church.
Interment will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Canonsburg. Full military honors will be accorded by the combined honor guard Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 of Canonsburg and American Legion Post 902 of Houston
