Vera Cacchione O'Shinski

Vera Cacchione O'Shinksi, 90, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 17, 2014 in Country Meadows, Bridgeville.

She was born on April 16, 1924 in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late Gennaro and Rose Rimoli Cacchione.

Vera attended Canonsburg schools, graduating from Canonsburg High School in 1942. She was also a graduate of Duff's Business School in Pittsburgh. After 30 devoted years, Vera retired in 1976 as a cost accounting clerk from the Continental Can Company.

She enjoyed playing cards and watching her soaps on tv. Vera was also a big Steelers fan. Above all, she was a kind and caring person that would do anything for you and she always enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Vera was a senior volunteer for many years with the Canonsburg Hospital, where she was a member of the Canonsburg Hospital Twig #14. She was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Parish, the Catholic Daughters of America Court 1211, and the Christian Mothers and Guild.

On February 8, 1947 she married Stanley O'Shinski, who passed away on August 20, 1990.

Surviving are her sister, Rose Marie (Joseph, deceased) Kobrys of Canonsburg; her niece, Lisa (Michael) Chauvet of Cecil; nephews, Joseph (Lois) Kobrys of South Park, Wally Kobrys of Canonsburg, and Raymond O'Shinski of Canonsburg; and a great nephew, Ryan Chauvet of Canonsburg. She is also survived by additional nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Vera was also preceded in death by her four brothers, Perry, Vincent, Wolly, and Mario Cacchione and her niece, Nicole Chauvet.

Friends are welcome from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra Owner/Supervisor, Lin Webb Funeral Director, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where the Christian Mothers and Guild will recite the Rosary at 2:00 PM on Tuesday and departing prayers will begin at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 with a Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 11:00 AM in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Parish, 317 West Pike Street, Canonsburg. Interment will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, Canonsburg.
