Sylvia M. (Mramor) Casagrande

March 20, 1926 — June 17, 2015

Sylvia M. Casagrande, 89, of Bridgeville, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 in Hawthorne Woods Assisted Living, Washington.

She was born on March 20, 1926 in Cuddy, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Frank and Johanna Sray Mramor.

She spent most of her life in Canonsburg, Eighty Four, and Bridgeville and spent the last few years in Washington.  Sylvia was a past member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Canonsburg and, most recently, a member of St. Barbara Roman Catholic Church in Bridgeville.  She was a member of the Bridgeville Senior Citizens and the Bridgeville Stompers Dance Group.  She enjoyed all types of dancing.  She also bowled in several leagues in the past.  Sylvia was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles and spelling.

On August 30, 1947 she married William O. Casagrande in St. Barbara Roman Catholic Church.  He passed away on May 9, 1988.

Surviving are her two beloved daughters, Carole (Larry) Ostrowski of Houston and Lorraine Casagrande of Bedford, Texas; a brother, Joseph (Pam Moore) Mramor of Rochester Hills, Michigan; a sister, Anne Canzian of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Chris) Nestor of Marianna, Aaron (Rainey) Ostrowski of Canonsburg, and Maj. Daniel Ostrowski of South Fayette; seven great grandchildren, McKenna and Blake Henry, Jordan and Sammy Nestor, and Benjamin, Evan, and Owen Ostrowski; a brother-in-law, Matt Cavanaugh of Cuddy; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, William J. “Billy” Casagrande, who passed away on August 1, 1978; a grandson, Nathan Ostrowski; two brothers, Frank and William Mramor; a sister, Mimi Cavanaugh; and her dearest friend, Dominick Sollima, who passed away in January 2015.

Friends are welcome from 10:30-11:30 AM on Monday, June 22, 2015 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra Owner/Supervisor, Lin Webb Funeral Director, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where departing prayers will begin at 11:30 AM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 12 Noon in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 317 West Pike Street, Canonsburg.  Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Canonsburg.
