Sylvester G. Holzer

Sylvester G. Holzer, 79, of Washington passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 30, 2015 in his home.
He was born in Pittsburgh on July 15, 1935, a son of the late Sylvester and Ruth Donnelly Holzer, Sr.
Sylvester spent most of his life in Canonsburg, where he was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church. Mr. Holzer had been employed at the former Architectural Metals in Canonsburg and prior to his retirement had been a steelworker for Washington Steel Corporation for many years He was a member of the White Eagles Society, the United Steel Workers of America, and the United Iron Workers.
On July 11, 1955 he married Patricia Ann McElwain Holzer, who survives.
Also surviving are his four beloved children, Michael G. (Evelyn) Holzer of Avella, Debra Medley of Melbourne, Florida, Karen (Frank) Valencic of Canonsburg, and Cynthia (James) Leckemby of Daisytown; a sister, Joann of Florida; a brother, Alan “Bucky” (Leslie) of Pittsburgh; nine grandchildren, Everet Medley, Frank, Eric, and James Valencic, Michael, Johnna, Sarah, Amanda, and Jamie Leckemby; one great-granddaughter, Alisha Medley; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are welcome from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra Owner/Supervisor, Lin Webb Funeral Director, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where a Catholic Blessing Service will be held. Private interment will take place in St. Patrick Cemetery, Canonsburg.
