Steve W. Luginski age 85, of Strabane, died Friday, April 02, 2010, in Canonsburg General Hospital.
He was born March 23, 1925, in Canonsburg, the son of the late Stanley and Pauline Cholodowska Luginski.
Mr. Luginski served with the United States Navy during World War II as a Gunner's mate second class.
He was a welder for the former Fort Pitt Bridge Works in Canonsburg.
Mr. Luginski was Catholic by faith and live most of his life in Strabane.
He enjoyed family gatherings, working in his garden, his animals, and craftsman by trade as a welder and handy man and listening to music polkas and country were his favorite.
Surviving are son, Gary Gilbert of New Dallas, Ga.; two daughters, Lana Zitelli of Duquesne; Pam Schuij of Washington; five grandchildren, George, Romeo, Rob, Gary Lee, Jr., and Natasha; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and great- nieces and nephews. He is the last of his immediate family.
Deceased are his wife, Jacqueline Johnson, granddaughter, Jackie Lynn; five sisters, Pauline Zeszuteik, Helen Senay, Toni Woloszyn, Agnes Kennedy and Blanche Lowe; four brothers, Pete, Stanley "Toby", Edward and Robert Luginski.
Friends are welcome on Monday, April 5, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/ supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120, where a Blessing Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, April 7, 2010. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM in St. Patrick Church. Interment will follow in Woodruff Memorial Park, Canonsburg. Full military rites will be accorded by the combined honor guard of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 of Canonsburg and American Legion Post 902 of Houston.
