Sophia Ann Capozzi age 97, of McMurray, died Friday, April 17, 2009 at 6:20 AM in Country Meadows.
She was born November 15, 1911, in Salamanca, New York, the daughter of Adam and Katheryn Simsic Matusic.
Mrs. Capozzi lived for 74 years in the Canonsburg and McMurray areas.
She was a home maker and beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Mrs. Capozzi was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Canonsburg.
On July 1, 1933 she married Michael J. Capozzi, who died on July 30, 1996.
Surviving are two sons, Emil Eugene Capozzi of Palm Desert, Calif.; Michael J. Capozzi, Jr. of Gig Harbor, Washington; two daughters, Jacqueline Eonta of McMurray; Barbara A. Kirr of Columbus, Ind.; eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; two sisters Loretta Phillips of Salamanca, New York and Dorothy Dieter of Youngstown, New York.
At the request of Mrs. Capozzi, there will be no public visitation. Those wishing to attend her Mass of Christian Burial are asked to meet the family at St. Patrick Church, Canonsburg, on Monday, April 20, 2009 at 9:45 AM for 10:00 AM mass. Entombment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray.
Arrangements are being handled by the Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg.
