Shirley J. Fortunato, 73 of Strabane passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2017 in Washington Hospital surrounded by her loving family and her two dear friends Tiaka Pearce and Jim Pacific.
She was born on December 17, 1943 in Canonsburg the daughter of Marion Stevens and Sylvia Booth Stevens who preceded her in death.
Ms. Fortunato was a custodian who worked for Canon-McMillan School District for 33 years until her retirement.
She was quick witted and had a great sense of humor. She enjoyed going to yard sales and spending time at the casino. Above all, she loved her family dearly and spent as much time with them as she could.
She is survived by one son, Anthony J. Fortunato, of Strabane and four daughters Lorraine M. Bowser (Ron) of Buckhannon, WV, Toni Ann Fortunato (Derek) of Houston, Christine J. Scarff (Dana) of Houston and Jamie L. Lemon (Abby) of Muse, two grandchildren Troy Kisko and Chantel Bowser and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was the last of 15 children.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a granddaughter Shannon Anesetti.
At the request of the deceased, all services are private and have been entrusted to Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120.
