Samuel J. Perry Sr. age 91 of Canonsburg died Saturday December 27, 2008 in Golden Living, North Strabane Twp.
He was born March 22, 1917 in Westland a son of John and Rose DeLuca Perry, and lived his entire life in Midland and Canonsburg where he was a member of St Patrick Church and the Houston Independent club.
Prior to his retirement in 1980, Mr. Perry had been employed for 30 years as a Die Setter at Fisher Body in West Mifflin. He had been a coalminer at Midland Mine for 17 years.
On May 4, 1941 he married Marjorie De Nardo who survives. Also surviving are a daughter Donna Jean (David) Dzikowski of Canonsburg, a sister Josephine Downey of Claysville, six grandchildren, David Dzikowski, Daniel (Christina) Dzikowski, Richard (Kim) Perry, Keith (Angel) Perry, Melissa (Joseph) Sawicky and Jeffrey Perry a step granddaughter Lacy Marotto, two great grandchildren, Alyssa Nicole Perry and Josey Daniel Dzikowski and a step great grandson Layton Marotto. Deceased is a son, Samuel J Perry Jr. who died August 23, 1985, three brothers, Anthony, Theodore and James Perry and three sisters Mary Coury, Catherine Scarton and Rose Chile.
Friends are welcome from 3-8pm Monday in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg (724) 745-8120, where a blessing service will be held at 9:30am Tuesday, December 30, 2008 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Patrick Church. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. The family suggests contributions to St Patrick Organ Fund.
