Ruth P. Travaglini age 87 a life long resident of Canonsburg, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013 in Golden Living Center of South Hills.
She was born February 13, 1926 in Canonsburg, the daughter of the Zigmond and Anna Smigels Polosky.
Mrs. Travaglini spent her entire life in the Canonsburg area. She graduated from Canonsburg High School class of 1941 where she was the Salutatorian. Mrs. Travaglini was a member of St. Genevieve Worship Site of St. Patrick Parish her entire life.
Prior to her marriage, she worked for eight years as a Cost Accountant for the Continental Can Co. of Canonsburg. Mrs. Travaglini also worked at the Book Shop in Canonsburg for seventeen years until her retirement in 1992.
On July 5, 1950 she married Daniel Travaglini, who passed away on April 18, 1958. Mrs. Travaglini never remarried, "saying she had lost the love of her life, she would never be able to find a better man".
Surviving are her son, Daniel (Rebecca) Travaglini, one granddaughter, Julia Ann, whom she cherished her time with, saying was the greatest joy in her life, all of Canonsburg; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Travaglini was the last of her immediate family.
Deceased also are three brothers, Joseph Pruce, Walter and Edward Polosky and one sister, Jane Reynier.
Friends are welcome on Sunday, March 24, 2013 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where a Blessing Service will be held Monday, March 25, 2013 at 9:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 AM in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Canonsburg.
