Ruth J. Pecharka

Ruth J. Pecharka age 75 of Canonsburg died at 5:10 am Thursday October 8, 2009 in Washington Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born February 19, 1934 in Chaneyville, a daughter of Floyd and Mary Wilson Nestor. Mrs. Pecharka lived most of her life in the Canonsburg area and volunteered for meals on wheels for many years. Prior to her retirement, she had been and Aide for 25 years at Mayview State Hospital. She was a member of our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Roman Catholic church in Meadow Lands and the Christian Mothers and Guild of the church. Mrs. Pecharka attended daily mass and bible study regularly. She enjoyed cross stitching and made many beautiful gifts for friends and family.
On July 30, 1951 she married George J. Pecharka who survives. Also surviving are seven sons; George (Janet) Pecharka of Meadowlands, Robert Pecharka of Canonsburg, John Pecharka of Houston, David (Kathy) Pecharka of Robinson Twp., Richard (Linda) Pecharka of Canonsburg, Christopher (Tracey) Pecharka of Dana Point, California and Joseph (Carolyn) Pecharka of San Juan Capistrano, California, a brother James (Susan) Nestor of Meriden, Connecticut, twelve grandchildren , a great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. Deceased are three sisters June Cazile, Betty Miller and Norma Sprowels, two brothers, Ross Nestor and Carl Nestor who died in infancy.
Friends are welcome from 6-8 pm Saturday and from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Sunday in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/ supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where a blessing service will be held at 8:30 am Monday October 12, 2009. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9 am in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Roman Catholic church with the Reverend John O'Shea, Pastor, as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Canonsburg. The Family suggests memorial contributions be made to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church.
