Rosemarie Helmick age 73 of Canonsburg, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2012 in the Donnell House,Washington . She was born January 24, 1939 in Bishop, Cecil Twp. a daughter of the late Emil J. and Anna Sakely Kumer.
Mrs. Helmick lived her entire life in Canonsburg where she was a member of Saint Patrick Roman Catholic Church. A graduate of Cecil High School class of 1956, she was a devoted wife, mother, grand mother, great-grandmother and homemaker. She was a member of AARP.
On November 10, 1956 she married the love of her life, Gerald R. (Jerry) Helmick with whom she celebrated 55 years of marriage. Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters; Suanne E. (Dr. Jon) Kelly of Houston and Teresa (Michael) Engler of Meadow Lands, a son Gerald D. (Rebecca) Helmick of Canonsburg, a sister Mary Ann (James) Zullo of Strabane, two brothers; Emil (Jo Ann) Kumer of Melbourne Florida and David (Faye) Kumer of Louisa, Kentucky, four grandchildren Colleen Kelly Smith, Stephanie Kelly, Alexander Engler and Samuel Helmick, 2 great grandchildren; Noah Smith and Cooper Smith, who was born Monday, July 16, 2012 and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are welcome from 2-4 and 6-8pm Sunday July 22, 2012 in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where a blessing service will be held at 9:00 am Monday July 23, 2012. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am in St. Patrick Church. Interment will follow at 11:00 am in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Twp.
