Ronald L. Markle age 69 of Washington died Wednesday September 15, 2010 in Washington after courageously battling a lengthy illness. He was born September 6, 1941 in Canonsburg, a son of the late Robert John and Claire Adeline Dayton Markle.
Mr. Markle was a graduate of Canonsburg High School and had served with the United States Navy. He had been employed as a coalminer with Consolidated Coal Company. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. Prior to his retirement Mr. Markle was a driver for Fuji Film. He Attended Christ Church at Grove Farm, was an avid Steelers fan and had belonged to several organizations in Canonsburg.
On August 18, 1961 he married Dorothy "Dodo" Duke who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Ronda Markle George of Sharon, three sons, Ronald Markle of Washington, John (Tracy) Markle of Bevercreek Ohio and Timothy (Jennifer) Markle of Fredericktown, a brother Robert Markle of Ladson, South Carolina, a sister Sue Ann (John) Brown of Canonsburg, ten grandchildren; Nichole Reiner, Joshua George, Jason and Jeremy Markle, Emily Markle, Matthew and Tyler Markle, Catilyn Bowen, Dylan and Noah Markle and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are welcome from 2-4 and 6-8pm Saturday and Sunday in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where services will be held at 11:30 am Monday September 20, 2010 with the Reverend Barry Mariana, pastor of Christ Church at Grove Farm officiating. Interment will follow at 1pm in the Cemetery of the Allegheny's, Cecil Township with full military honors accorded by the VFW post 191 of Canonsburg and the American Legion post 902 of Houston
