Ronald H. Anesetti age 75 of Canonsburg, died peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday September 16, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on November 1, 1934 in Canonsburg, eldest son of the late Alessandro and Stella Checca Anesetti.
Mr. Anesetti had a strong work ethic having worked since the age of 14 and loved all his "... In the olds days" stories from his grandparents' family farm in Cecil to anyone who would listen.
He graduated from Cecil High School in 1953. Mr. Anesetti joined the Air Force and served for almost 22 years during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He went to advance schooling and worked within the Strategic Air Command and was most proud of his part in the U.S. Missile program and the F-111 jets. Mr. Anesetti was twice awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, an Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, a Presidential Unit Citation, a Purple Heart, as well as the Air Force Longevity Service with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters and the Small Arms Export Marksmanship Ribbon.
He loved regaling his family and friends with his exploits and travels all over the world such as; his years living in Japan, climbing Mt. Fuji; traveling to Australia, New Zealand and to the numerous small islands of the South Pacific; his travels to the Middle East, as well as scaling a glacier in Greenland. Mr. Anesetti was also very proud of playing with the Air Force semi-pro football team.
Upon his return to the U.S. in late 1959, he was stationed at Plattsburgh Air Force Base in New York. Mr. Anesetti traveled to small towns of AuSable Forks and met the women who would become his wife. He loved telling everyone that for him it was "love at first sight". They were married on his birthday in 1960 at Holy Name Church. He was Catholic.
Mr. Anesetti retired from the Air Force in 1974 and finally returned to his hometown after being stationed in Texas, Arizona, Colorado, California and New York. From
this time until his retirement in 2005 he worked for/with several vending companies: Leroy's Music, Vic's Coin and Belfiore Amusement and was known by many as "Ron the Fix-it Man".
Ron was a great family man! He was his children's and grandchildren's biggest fan and treasured them all dearly. His favorite hobby was cooking for his family and friends. He could be found watching the Food Network for ideas. Ron was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins and Pirates fan.
He was a former member of the American Legion Post 902 in Houston.
Surviving are his cherished wife with whom, he was celebrating 50 years of marriage, Judith Ann Ashton. Three children, Mark (Chris) Anesetti, Angela Anesetti (Scott Philcous) and Matthew Anesetti. He also leaves three grandchildren, Andrew Anesetti-Rothermel, Jennifer (Kevin) Anesetti-McCracken and Jessica Anesetti; five great-grandchildren, Theorie, Arrianna, Angelea, Kristopher and Kameron; beloved brother, Merwyn (Larry) (Patti) Anesetti of Palmdale, Calf.; sister-in-law, Charmaine Anesetti of Lawrence, numerous nephews, a niece and many cousins. He also leaves his faithful and loving companion and protector, his 20year old, black pug, Mai-Tai ("Phat Dog").
In addition to his parents, deceased are a son who died the day of his birth in 1962, and beloved brother, Anthony L. Anesetti, whom he greatly missed since his death in February 2008.

Friends are welcome on Thursday, September 23, 2010 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm the time of Blessing Service at Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg, 724-745-8120. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville. Full military rites will be accorded by the combined Honor Guard, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 of Canonsburg and American Legion Post 902 of Houston.
