Robert J. "Red" Darabant

Robert J. “Red” Darabant age 82 of Canonsburg passed away peacefully Thursday June 21, 2018 in Premier Washington Health Center in Chariters Twp. He was born March 3, 1936 in Oakdale the son of the late Joseph Nicholas and Sophie A. Piecuch Darabant. In October of 1961 he married Opal L. Hootman who passed away Friday, January 22, 2016. Mr. Darabant was a good husband, father and grandfather and was known to many as Red. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Red was able to travel to places such as Alaska, Hawaii, Germany, Canada and California. He was a hard worker and a do it yourself kind of guy.

Left behind to cherish his memory are four beloved children, Diana R. Hughes and her husband Chuck of Burgettstown, Robert J. Darabant Jr. and his wife Beth of Boston Massachusetts, Kevin G. Darabant and his wife Christine of Peoria Arizona, and Suzanne Chichester and her husband Charles of McDonald, six beautiful grandchildren, five beautiful great-grandchildren, a sister Janice A. (Paul) Kowal of Oakdale, a brother in law Al Morzzarella of Imperial, sisters in law, Ida Jean (Murl) Barr of New Cumberland WV., Betty Ruth McCarthy of Southview and Helen Hootman of Ashville Ohio and many nieces and nephews.
