US Airways management retiree
Robert E. White Sr. age 76 of Strabane died unexpectedly Monday October 24, 2011 in Canonsburg General Hospital. He was born April 7, 1935 at Marshallton, Delaware a son of the late Mildred White Overton.
Mr. White moved to Canonsburg from Philadelphia in 1972. He lived in Florida for 27 years and the past four years in Strabane. He was a US Airways management retiree after 39 years of service to the airline. Mr. White was an avid Steelers fan and enjoyed most sports, including fishing and camping. He most enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and his cat "Fridgie".
On June 1, 1974 he married Doris M. Skovranko Finney who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Robert E. (Leslie) White Jr. of Ferndale MD, and Donald L. (Janice) Finney of Canonsburg, three daughters, Christine M. Finney of Meadow Lands, Kathleen M. Finney of Strabane and Diane White (Michael) Stockton of Lebanon PA, nine grand children Matthew, Jennifer, Deena, Angela, Lauren, Caroline, Donnie, Michael and Danielle, and five great grandchildren.
Friends are welcome from 2-4 and 6-8pm Thursday in Salandra Funeral Service Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where a blessing service will be held at 10 am Friday October 28, 2011. Interment will follow in Oak Spring Cemetery.
