Robert Spiller, Sr.

Robert Spiller, Sr., 85 of Houston passed away in his home on Saturday, March 5, 2016.

He was born on July 29, 1930 in Houston, a son of the late Baptist and Domenica Reghetti Spiller.

On November 29, 1954 he married Ruth Hilderbrand, who preceded him in death in May of 1999.

Mr. Spiller was a member of the VFW Post 191, the American Legion Post 902 in Houston and a member of the Chartiers Lodge of F & AM. He was a life member of Raccoon Valley Sportsman Club and also a life member and a long time President of Houston Independent Club. He was the  former Mayor of Houston.

Surviving are three beloved children, Robert “Pickles” Spiller, Jr., (Patty) of Canonsburg, Peggy L. Cregger of Canonsburg and Cindy J. Blough of Houston; five grandchildren, Tiffany & TJ Surich, Cara N. Spiller, Charlie and Jessie Blough; and three great grandchildren, Dylan and Dominic Cumer and Gavin Surich.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers, James, Henry, Frank, and Joseph Spiller.

Friends are welcome from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, Lin Webb funeral director, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120 where a funeral service will begin at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, March 9, 2016. Interment, with full military rites accorded by the VFW Post 191 Honor Guard, will follow in Oak Spring Cemetery, Canonsburg.
