Robert Calvin Harper age 89 of Canonsburg passed away Friday May 29, 2015 in the Washington County Health Center. He was born October 25, 1925 in Canonsburg a son of the late John and Sara Shirey Harper. He lived his life in Canonsburg and was Presbyterian. Mr. Harper proudly served with the United States Army during World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star. Prior to his retirement worked for the former McGraw-Edison Power Systems in Canonsburg. He was a life member of the American Legion and the Washington Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 22. He loved to dance and travel and enjoyed his campsite at Four Seasons Campground. On August 12, 1947 he married Mary Louise Davis who passed away September 7, 2005 after 58 years of marriage.
Mr. Harper leaves behind to cherish his memory five daughters; Sherry Lynn Frye, Nancy Louise Taylor, Roberta Kay (David) Gostic, Linda Sue Staley and Mary (Arthur) Mohler, four grandchildren; Robert and Alexander Mohler and David and Robert Gostic, a brother, James Harper of Canonsburg and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to his wife and parents are three brothers; Ira, Mead and George Harper and a sister who died in infancy.
To honor the wishes of the deceased there will be no public visitation. Services and interment will be held privately in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, Lin Webb, funeral director 304 West Pike Canonsburg 724-745-8120.  Memorial contributions in Mr. Harpers name may be made to the Washington Area Humane Society  1527 Route 136 Eighty Four, PA.  153330.
