Richard J. Yarkosky 81 of Strabane, died at 12:30 am Monday January 18, 2010 in the Donnell House Washington.
He was born January 31, 1928 in Strabane a son of Joseph and Albena Florgancic Yarkosky. He lived his entire life in Strabane, where he was a member of the SNPJ Lodge and the KSKJ Lodge 153.
Mr Yarkosky served with the United States Army during the Korean War and prior to his retirement had been a Foreman in the assembly department at the former McGraw Edison Power Systems and Cooper Industries in Canonsburg. He was a member of St Patrick Church, the VFW post 191 and the BPO Eagles Lodge, both of Canonsburg and the Houston Independent Club and American Legion post 902 both of Houston.
On October 24, 1953 he married Dorothy M. Florian who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Kathleen (Patrick) Rheam of Washington, Patricia (Thomas) Eckert of Bethel Park and Linda (John) Tague of Freeport: seven grandchildren, Eric, Douglas and Kristen Rheam, Emily and Julianne Eckert and Jonathan and Jocelyn Tague and two nephews. Deceased is a brother Gerald Yarkosky.
Friends are welcome from 6-8pm Tuesday and from 2-4 and 6-8pm Wednesday in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg, where a blessing service will be held at 9:30 am Thursday January 21, 2010.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am in St. Patrick Church, Canonsburg. Interment will follow in St Patrick Cemetery with full Military Rites accorded by the American Legion Post 902 of Houston and the VFW post 191 of Canonsburg combined Honor Guard.
