Richard D. Popovich, 67 of McMurray passed away on November 21, 2016, at Family Hospice and Palliative Care in Mt. Lebanon.
He was born on October 31, 1949 in Canonsburg to the late John Popovich and Margaret E. Morovich Popovich, who survives.
On July 7, 1973, he married Joyce Bartek who survives.
Richard earned a degree in Political Science from California University of Pennsylvania. After working for PENNDOT for many years, he became a founding partner of the engineering firm, Tri-Line Associates, Inc., located in Southpointe. Mr. Popovich enjoyed socializing with his family and his wide circle of friends. He loved dining out, listening to music, and vacationing with his family at the beach. Above all, he loved his family and relished being Pap Pap to his grandchildren with whom he spent many special times.
Surviving in addition to his beloved mother and wife are a son, Scott R. Popovich (Alanna) of North Strabane Township; a daughter, Bethany L. Gross (Adam) of North Strabane Township; three brothers: John “Jay” Popovich ( Doni-deceased) of Las Vegas, Thomas M. Popovich (Patricia) of South Strabane, Gregory S. Popovich (Judy) of Chicago; two grandchildren, Ava and Alexander Popovich of North Strabane Township; and many loving and admiring nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Sophie.
Friends are welcome from 2~4 and 6~8 on Saturday, November 26, 2016 and Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, Pa 15317 where departing prayers will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, November 28, 2016. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. in St. Patrick Catholic Church, 317 West Pike Street, Canonsburg. Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray.
