Richard Lee Petras age 50 of Millersville, Maryland; died unexpectedly on Friday, July 22, 2011.
He was born November 25, 1960 in Canonsburg, the son of Richard M. and Ruth Harrington Petras who both survive, from Lawrence.
Mr. Petras graduated from Canon "McMillan High School class of 1979, were he lettered in football, after high school he also graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College where he belonged to Chi "Phi fraternity.
He was raised in Lawrence, Pa. but for the last 30 years lived in Washington D.C. and Baltimore area were he worked as a hotel manager.
Mr. Petras was Catholic by faith, devoted father, avid Steelers Fan and also a sports memorable collector.
Also surviving are the light of his life, two sons, Robert "Rob" Petras of South Carolina; Ryan Petras of Odenton, Maryland; daughter, Julia Petras Odenton, Maryland; two brothers, Michael (Lauren) Petras of Canonsburg; Marc (Cheryl) Petras of Hendersonville; sister, Renee (Anthony) Castelveter of Moon Township; three nieces, Alison ( Jonathan) Ogurchak, Rebecca Petras and Madison Castelveter.
Friends are welcome on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Salandra Funeral Service, Inc.; Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120, where Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, July 28, 2011. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Garden Cemetery, McMurray. Family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made Cecil #1 Fire Department in memory of Richard.
