Richard "Dick" Campbell

Richard D. "Dick" Campbell, 77, of Hickory passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2015, with his loving family by his side, at the Donnell House in Washington.

He was born in Washington on March 31, 1937, a son of the late Walter M. and Florella Caldwell Campbell.

Dick was a 1955 graduate of Hickory High School, where he was a member of the Future Farmers of America. He retired in 1999 from Climax Molybdenum Company after 35 devoted years. After his retirement, he drove the Medi Van with Canonsburg Ambulance for ten years. Alongside his wife, Dick owned and operated Campbell's Bakery for many years, providing homemade baked goods to several local businesses in the Hickory area. He was a lifetime member of the Mt. Pleasant Twp. Volunteer Fire Company in Hickory. He, along with his family, volunteered countless hours baking bread and manning the bread booth at the Hickory Apple Festival for 25 years. He was also a member of the Chartiers Crossroads Presbyterian Church.

On March 6, 1959 he married Beverly Powell Campbell, who survives. Also surviving, in addition to his beloved wife, are three daughters, Connie (Ronald) Burlina of Hickory, Bonnie (Alan) Clayton of Atlanta, GA, and Lisa (Jim) McGraw of Hickory; three siblings, Donald Campbell of Aliquippa, Doris (Dick) Cowden of McDonald, and William (Jan) Campbell of Hickory; eight grandchildren, Christie Burlina, Mackenzie (Brian) Sewchok, Adam, Hannah, Luke, and Rebecca Clayton, and Sara and Joe McGraw; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca Sue Campbell, who passed away at the age of 3 months; brother, Robert Campbell; and his special aunt, Virginia Caldwell.

Friends are welcome from 12 Noon-4 and 6-8 PM on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc, Joseph P. Salandra Owner/Supervisor, Lin Webb Funeral Director, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where a funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 5, 2015 with Rev. Dr. Roger Fischer officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Hickory. A service with the Mt. Pleasant Twp. Volunteer Fire Company will begin at 7:00 PM on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Mt. Pleasant Twp. Volunteer Fire Company, 106 Main Street, Hickory, 15340 or to the Donnell House, 10 Leet Street, Washington, 15301.
