Rev. Robert C. Armstrong

October 15, 1924 — July 2, 2014

Rev. Robert C. Armstrong, 89, of Nottingham Township, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2014 in Heritage Valley Hospital, Beaver.

He was born October 15, 1924 in Searsboro, Iowa, the son of the late Emmett and Alice Bingham Armstrong.

On September 18, 1947 he married Maudie M. Hargis, who passed away on September 27, 2007.

Rev. Armstrong and his late wife were founding Board Members for the Washington County Habitat for Humanity. He proudly served his country with the Unites States Navy during World War II. Rev. Armstrong was a seminary graduate and was a retired Methodist Minister. He was a member of the Western Pennsylvania Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. In addition, he and his late wife attended Thomas Presbyterian Church in Eighty Four.

Surviving are his beloved children, Gerald R. (Anna) Armstrong of Clinton and Diane (Larry) Brosius of Beaver; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his son, Bruce Armstrong; his daughter, Lorinda Armstrong; his infant son, Roger Armstrong; brothers, Paul, David, Harry Armstrong; and sister, Elmira Eberly.

Friends are welcome on Friday, July 4, 2014 from 5:00-8:00 PM in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra Owner/Supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where full military rites will be accorded by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 Honor Guard at 10:45 AM on Saturday, July 5, 2014. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Eighty Four. Following the interment, Rev. Armstrong's family would like to invite those in attendance to a reception at Thomas Presbyterian Church, 1068 Linden Road, Eighty Four.
