Rev. Harry Carl Heider

January 8, 1932 — April 29, 2015

Reverend Harry Carl Heider age 83 of Canonsburg went to be with his Lord at 6:20pm Wednesday April 29, 2015 in Consulate Health Center following an extended illness, with his loving family by his side. He was born January 8, 1932 in Johnstown, Cambria County a son of the late Carl Robert and Minnie Margaret Cummbers Heider. Reverend Heider was a Lutheran minister most of his life in Washington and Fayette Counties. He served with honor in the United States Army with the 77th Field Artillery connected to the 1st Calvary Division in Japan, and was a life member of the VFW Post 47 in Uniontown.

On June 4, 1955 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Canonsburg he married his beloved wife Louise Laurie Sulkowski who survives after 59 years of marriage. Also surviving are his five children; David (Rochelle) Heider of Washington, Maryann (Mark ) Emph of Houston, Cindy Ewing of Houston, Carol Ann Heider of Canonsburg and Faith Ann (Rodger) Cain of Washington, grandchildren; Michael (Brandi) Heider, Logan Heider, Lisa Hathaway, Deborah Cianflone, Christine Marie Cain and Harley Cain, Great grandchildren; Gage and Pacey John Heider, Riley Ewing, Savanah, Gavin and Brynn Hathaway, Shilyn and Danika Cianflone Ryder Riggs and Bentley Eckert and several nieces and nephews. Deceased is a grandson Jordan Michael Raineri, a great grandson Noah Hathaway, two brothers; Robert and James Heider, son in law Glenn Ewing, a sister in law Helen Sulkowski.  Reverend Heider was the last of his immediate family.

Friends are welcome from 6-8pm Saturday May 2, 2015 in Salandra Funeral And Cremation Services, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, Lin Webb funeral director 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where a funeral service will begin at 8:00 PM with Pastor Nathan Childs of Dunbar Baptist Church officiating. Private interment will take place in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Twp. with full Military Rites.
