Pastor Raymond R. Bruno age 60 of Canonsburg died unexpectedly Tuesday
April 6, 2010, in his home. He was born October 11, 1949 in Canonsburg, a son of the late Raymond R. and Constance Cancilla Bruno.
Pastor Bruno was a 1967 graduate of Canon McMillan High School. He graduated from California State College in 1971 and earned a Masters Degree in Business from the University of Pittsburgh. He then graduated from the Seminary at Waynesburg College. Mr. Bruno taught Environmental Science for 34 years in the South Fayette School district where he had been a wrestling Coach and in 1993 was awarded the Thanks To Teachers Award and the Three Rivers Environmental Award.
He served with the Pennsylvania National Guard and was very proud of his Italian heritage. While having served at many area churches, he has been Pastor at Pigeon Creek Presbyterian and Cokeburg Presbyterian churches for the past 10 years.
Pastor Bruno had a smile for everyone. His life was a testament to Walking with the Lord. If anyone called on him, he was always there for them with a prayer and helping hand. He was a devoted husband and father who cherished his family.
On August 14, 1984 he married Diana Lynn Hilderbrand who survives after 24 A½ wonderful years of marriage. Also surviving are his two beloved daughters, Lindsay Ann Bruno and Jennifer Lynn Bruno, two nephews and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends are welcome from 2-8pm Thursday in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120. Friends are asked to meet at Pigeon Creek Presbyterian Church 45 Church Road, Eighty Four, where a visitation will be held from 10 " 11am the time of service on Friday April 9, 2010 with Reverend Craig Kephart officiating. Interment will follow in Pigeon Creek Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Pigeon Creek or Cokeburg Presbyterian Church or the Humane Society.
