Philomena Testa Herman, 89, of Canonsburg passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 in her home with her loving family by her side.
She was born on February 10, 1927 in Monesson, a daughter of the late Domenico and Julia Carozza Testa.
Philomena was a professional tailor and worked at Sol Mintz, Richmond Brothers, and Bell Sportswear. She had also worked and retired from Western Center.
She was an avid artist and loved her family immensely. Philomena collected dolls and you could always find her cooking for her brother, Jimmy.
On February 13, 1947 she married John P. Herman, who passed away on November 29, 1995. They were married almost 49 years.
Surviving are two daughters, Judi (John) Kemis of Canonsburg and Amanda “Amy” (Mark) Cowden of Hickory; seven grandchildren, Jacci (Carl) Buchanan, John (Michelle) Kemis, Justee (Frank) Kinney, Joshua (Michelle) Kemis, Jenna (Tom) Anderson, Anthony Cooke, and Ben Carozza; she was affectionately known as “Super Gram” to her eight great grandchildren, Noah, Piper, and Alyvia Kemis, Dalton and Tanner Kinney, Klayton Kemis, and Zander and Kayden Anderson; a brother, Jimmy Testa; a sister, Antoinette (Robert) DaPra; a special niece and nephew, Anita Pacific and Jim Pacific; and several additional nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to her parents and husband is a brother, John Testa.
Services will be private and have been entrusted to Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, Lin Webb funeral director, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg 724-745-8120.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Chartiers-Houston Community Library, 730 West Grant Street, Houston, PA 15342.
