Peter Cocco age 80 of Canonsburg, died unexpectedly at 7:35 pm, Wednesday December 15, 2010 in Canonsburg General Hospital. He was born March 1, 1930 in Sulmona, Provenza di Abruzi, Italy a son of Guido and Philippa Colangelo Cocco. Mr. Cocco had served for 17 years with the Italian Air force and was sent to the United States in 1958 to study missal guidance at the Nike Air force base in Huntsville Alabama. He lived in Canonsburg since 1963 where he was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church and had been employed as an electrician at the former McGraw Edison Power Systems and Cooper Industries, prior to his retirement,
Mr. Cocco started the family Real Estate investment business. He was a member of the Italian American Cultural and Heritage Society of Washington County. His greatest passion was his family. Pete loved his garden and making wine, and will be sadly missed by those who knew him.
On August 15, 1959 at Rome, Italy he married Norma DiSalle, who survives. Also surviving are his beloved children; Sandra (Michael) Marchky, Robert (Alison) Cocco, Lisa (E.J.) Vilsack and David (Bridget) Cocco all of Peters Twp., 15 grandchildren; Daniel, Brian and Paul Marchky, Emily, Melanie, Claire and Adriana Cocco, Joseph, Gina Michael and Maria Vilsack and David, Anna, Madeline and Natalie Cocco, a sister; Leda Ciccarelli of Rome, Italy and two nephews Marco Toaldo and Fabrizio Ciccarelli, both of Rome. Deceased is a sister Fausta Toaldo.
Friends are welcome from 2-4 and 6-8pm Friday and from 9-10 am Saturday in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where a blessing service will be held at 10am Saturday December 18, 2010, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in St. Patrick Church 317 West Pike St. Canonsburg.
