Paul A. Spilak II age 80 of North Strabane Twp. died Friday October 1, 2010. He was born April 10, 1930 in Canonsburg a son of the late Paul Anthony and Philomena Polansky Spikak and was a lifelong member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church. Mr. Spilak was a Korean War Veteran, having served his country in the United States Air Force, as a Cryptographer and Communications Center supervisor. He was a member of the American Legion, and worked for 31 years for United States Steel Corp. primarily in accounting at the Irvin Works. He held positions of Systems Programmer, Systems Analyst and retired as a Systems Designer.
Mr. Spilak enjoyed his family, fishing and traveling. He was very proud of his Slovak heritage.
On March 9, 1954 he married Jessica E. Moes who survives. He was the cherished father of two sons; Paul A. (Beth) Spilak III and James J. Spilak both of.North Strabane Twp., two daughters; Mary Lynn Spilak of East Washington and Suzanne (Brian) Myers of Washington, his three precious grandchildren; Melissa Gail Spilak, Michael Aaron Spilak and Alexandra Marie Myers. He is also survived by his loving cousin, Rita Polansky and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Deceased are a brother Joseph Spilak and three sisters; Mary Kelly, Pauline McNulty and Helen "Pinky" Fisher.
Friends are welcome from 2-8pm Sunday October 3, 2010 in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg (724)745-8120 where a blessing service will be held at 10:30 am Monday October 4, 2010. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am in St. Patrick church. Interment will follow in the Cemetery of the Allegheny's, Cecil Twp. with full Military Rites accorded by the V.F. W. post 191 of Canonsburg and the American Legion post 902 of Houston. The Family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church 317 West Pike Street Canonsburg 15317.
