Paul J. Bernardi age 91 of McDonald, Cecil Twp. passed away suddenly Saturday March 22, 2014 in Canonsburg General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 17, 1922 in Bishop a son of the late Emanuel and Maria Quaresima Bernardi. Mr. Bernardi lived his entire life in Cecil Twp and was a member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church in Muse, where he had been a member of the Muse Senior Citizens. He served with the United States Navy CB's as a carpenters mate during World War II. Prior to his retirement Mr. Bernardi had been employed through the Carpenters Union Local 142. He was a member of the Muse Independent Club.
On August 2, 1947 he married Elizabeth Falcocchio who passed away June 3, 2011. He is survived by two daughters; Jane (Stanly) Hall of Canonsburg and Marilyn Lankemeyer of Robinson Twp., two grandsons; Gregory P. (Kendra Meyer) Hall and Brandon (Yvonne) Hall, a great grandson; Tysen Hall, a brother, Victor (Milda) Bernardi of McDonald, three sisters; Bertha Quaresima of Canonsburg, Ann Walker of McDonald and Anrica (Frank) DeGenova of Muse and several Nieces and Nephews. Deceased in addition to his wife and parents is a brother Mario Bernardi and a sister Irma Quaresima.
Friends are welcome from 2-4 and 6-8pm Tuesday in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where departing prayers will be recited at 9:20 am Wednesday March 26, 2014. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Wednesday in Holy Rosary Church Muse, with the reverend George T. DeVille as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, Mc Murray. Full military rites will be accorded by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 Honor guard. Memorials in Mr. Bernardi's name may be made to Peters Twp. Meals on Wheels.
