Paul P. Antol age 86 of Canonsburg passed away Monday April 15, 2013 in Canonsburg General Hospital. He was born June 29, 1926 in Meadow Lands, a son of the late George and Anna Rapka Antol. He lived most of his life in the Canonsburg area and prior to his retirement in 1990 Mr. Antol had been employed as an airplane engine mechanic for United Airlines. He had served with the United States Army Air corps during World War II and the United States Naval Reserves. Mr. Antol was a member of the International Association of Mechanics and Aerospace workers, SNPJ Lodge 138 of Strabane, American Legion Post 902 of Houston and was a trustee of the American Slovenian Polka Foundation. He enjoyed model airplane building and flying, gardening and landscaping and playing the button box. Mr. Antol loved dancing, particularly with his wife and attending all Slovenian events.
On April 26, 1962 he married Martha Lesnik, who survives Also surviving are two daughters, Nancy Anton-Sartori of East Grandby Connecticut and Mary Ann (Mark) Shanks of McKenney Texas, a sister Mary Pomykala of Washington, four grandchildren, Jerry III and Gabrielle Sartori and Mark and James Shanks and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are his son in law Jerry Sartori who passed away on December 17, 2011, three brothers; John Steve and Joe Antol and four sisters Anna Mazzi, Margaret Antol, Katherine Merski and Helen Orlosky.
Friends are welcome from 2-4 and 6-8pm Thursday April 18, 2013 in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street 724-745-8120 where services will be held at 10 am Friday April 19, 2013 with reverend Catherine Peternel officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn, McMurray. Full Military Rites will be accorded by the VFW post 191 of Canonsburg and the American Legion post 902 of Houston combined honor guard. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Slovenian Radio Hour or Hospice.
