Olga E. Svitek age 83, of Strabane, died Sunday, January 30, 2011 in her home with her family by her side..
She was born March 1, 1927 in Strabane, the daughter of Anton and Mary Tomsic DeLost.
Mrs. Svitek was a member of St. Patrick Church in Canonsburg and worked at various locations in Canonsburg and Strabane including Alexander Co-Op, The Pottery, and the RCA and as a seamstress at Bobbie Brooks.
She was a devoted homemaker who enjoyed dancing, cooking, and crocheting. Her beautiful afghans have always been cherished possessions of her family and friends. Olga loved to reminisce about polka nights with her the girl friends at SNPJ and Drenick's Park.
On June 22, 1946 she married George Svitek who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Cheryl McConnell of Strabane, Mary Lou (Richard) Stillings of Washington; three sons, Dennis (Carolyn) Svitek of Eighty-Four, Thomas (Rosemarie) Svitek of Potomac Fall, Va.; John (LuAnn) Svitek of Canonsburg; ten grandchildren, Denise(Tim) Warne, Craig (Jackie) Svitek, Amanda (Justin) Page, Amber (Paul) McGinn, Kelly (Shawn) Miller, Karla (Nathan) Embery, Caila McConnell, Rick (Kirsten) Stillings, Jason and Tammy Svitek; nine great-grandchildren, Tim, Emily and Brandon Warne, Simon Svitek, Conner Page, Benjamin McGinn, Kenzi Miller, Sophia and Ella Stillings; one sister, Lucy Abraham of Georgetown, S.C.; two brothers, Frank (Marie) DeLost and Tony (Jean) DeLost both of Strabane and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to her parents are two brothers, Fred and Ed "Hoover" DeLost.
Friends are welcome on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120, where a Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Phillip Pace officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Spring Cemetery, Canonsburg. Family suggest in lieu of flowers donations can be made to ones choice in Memory of Olga
