Nicholas J. White

January 29, 1939 — December 10, 2023

Nicholas J. White age 84 of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, December 10, 2023, in TownView Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born January 29, 1939, in Houston a son of the late Nicholas and Mary V. Gaydos White Sr. Nick was a faithful member of St. Oscar Romero Parish St Patrick Church in Canonsburg and was a graduate of Canonsburg High School class of 1957. He proudly serves in the United States Air Force and his honorable discharge was extended until June 8, 1962, due to the Cuban Missile Crisis. Prior to his retirement, Nick had been employed in the Power Test department at the former Pennsylvania Transformer, McGraw Edison Power Systems and Cooper Industries in Canonsburg for many years. He enjoyed going to his cabin, sitting on the porch watching deer and turkey coming into the yard. He loved going hunting and trout fishing with his sons, grandsons and buddies. Nick loved spending time with his family, going to flea markets, reading and historical books on local history. He was once active in the Washington Metal Detectors and had a great interest in artifacts of early arrowheads and archaeology.  Nick enjoyed Waynesburg College archaeology  meetings. He was involved in the early reenactments of the Washington County Buckskinners and muzzle loading demonstrations. He enjoyed making his own muzzle loaders. Nick was a member of the Washington county Buckskinners, and metal Detectors and the National Muzzle Loading Association. On July 2, 1960, he married Kathryn M. Hewitt who survives after 63 years of marriage. Also left behind to cherish is memory are his three beloved sons: Michael (Amy) White of York, Terry (Sandy) White of Lewisberry and Nicholas W. (Jackie) White of Pierpont, Ohio, grandsons Travis White and Levi Sunday, his sister June Chambers of Peachtree City GA, nephew George N. Chamber and niece Sandra Chambers.

Friends and family are welcome from 9:30 am until 11:40 am Thursday December 14, 2023, in SALANDRA FUNERAL and CREMATION SERVICES, INC. Joseph P. Salandra LFD owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg (724) 745-8120. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon in St Oscar Romero Parish St. Patrick Church 317 West Pike Street Canonsburg. Interment with full Military Rights accorded by the VFW Post 191 of Canonsburg Honor Guard and the United States Air Force in Forest Lawn Gardens McMurray Pa..
