Nancy L. Stevens age 78 of Canonsburg, passed away Wednesday April 8, 2015 in Allegheny General Hospital following an extended illness. She was born January 29, 1937 in Eighty-Four and daughter of the late Donald C. and Hattie Wilson Tharp. Mrs. Stevens lived her life in the Eighty-Four and Canonsburg areas and had been employed as a nurse's aide at Mayview State Hospital for many years and prior to her retirement at the former Western Center in Canonsburg. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are her son Mark A. (Christine) Stevens, with whom she made her home, a sister Norma (William) Freed of Bridgeville, three grandsons; Mark A. (Dayna Becker) Stevens Jr., Jason Stevens and Justin Stevens (Christina), six great grand-children and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are her son David Michael Stevens who died April 23, 2003, two sisters; Thelma Berry and Romaine McConnell and two brothers; Donald Tharp and Walter Tharp who died in infancy.
Friends are welcome from 2-8pm Friday and from noon until 1pm Saturday in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner supervisor , Lin Webb funeral director 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where services will be held at 1pm Saturday April 11, 2015 with reverend Dragan Filipovic of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church officiating. Private family interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens McMurray.
