M. Russell "Russ" McElravy age 64 of Houston, died Monday, December 28, 2009 at 10: 15 PM in Washington Hospital.
He was born August 8, 1945 in Canonsburg, the son of the late Milford Russell and Edna Hay McElravy, Sr.
Russ served with United States Navy from February of 1964 to 1967 and transferred to the Reserves until 1970 during that time, receiving the National Defense Medal.
He worked for Mayview State Hospital in their maintenance department.
Russ lived most of his life in the Canonsburg and Houston area.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191, PNU, AGA, White Eagles all of Canonsburg, life member of SNPJ Lodge #138 of Strabane and the Canonsburg Sportsmen's Club, also a member American Legion Post 902 of Houston, Houston Independent Club, Muse Independent Club, Bear's Club of Meadowlands and the Westland Sportsmen's Club.
Russ enjoyed fishing.
On March 2, 1974 he married Esther E. Seik who survives.
Also surviving are five sisters, Patricia Young of Washington; Marilyn (Robert) Dixon of the State of Florida; Carol Gomski of Claysville; Joan Donella of Washington; Cheryl Glass of Washington; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are welcome to meet at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville on Monday, January 4 2010 at 10:00 AM for a graveside service. Please meet the family at 9:45 AM. Full Military rites will be accorded by the combined Honor Guard of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 of Canonsburg and American Legion Post 902 of Houston.
