Mildred Nakoneczny age 89 of Houston died Friday January 27, 2012 in Canonsburg Hospital. She was born April 2, 1922 in Washington, a daughter of the late John and Anna Sozika Petrola.
Mrs. Nakoneczny lived her life in Midland and Houston and was a member of St. Patrick church in Canonsburg. Prior to her retirement in 1981 she had been employed for 25 years and eleven months at the former RCA plants in Canonsburg and Meadow Lands as an assembler in the white room. She was a member of the Christian Mothers and Guild of St. Patrick, Chartiers Senior Citizens and the Monday Night Card Club. Mrs. Nakoneczny enjoyed gardening, crocheting, word searches, casinos and traveling in her younger years, after retirement. She most loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
On January 15, 1944 she married Alex Nakoneczny who died July 3, 1963. She is survived by her son Alex "Nob" (Janice) Nakoneczny of Houston and her daughter, Linda (Robert) Wylie of Houston, four grandchildren; Leslie (Allen) Hamilton, Jason Wylie (Jessica Pisani), Jarrod (Shannon) Nakoneczny, and Darcy (Ben) Stohon, three great grandchildren; Grant, Grace and Grahm Hamilton and several nieces and nephews. She was the last of her immediate family. Deceased are her son John Nakoneczny who died in infancy, four brothers; Jim, John, Andy and Mike Petrola and four sisters Catherine H. Ammon, Julia Malik, Anna Chastulik and Mary Petrola.
Friends are welcome from 2-8pm Monday in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/ supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where a blessing service will be held at 9:30am Tuesday January 31, 2012. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 am in St. Patrick church. Interment will be in St. Patrick cemetery, Canonsburg.
