Matt "Red" Skittle

Matt “Red” Skittle age 82 of Washington passed away unexpectedly Monday April 3, 2017 in his home. He Was born February 16, 1935 in Canonsburg a son of the late Mike Skittle Sr. and Anna Bobic Skittle. Mr. Skittle live his entire life in the Canonsburg and Washington area and was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church. He proudly served with the United States Army. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and Saturday mornings with his Greek friends at Suzie B’s, but his main interest and hobby was his business, Donaldson Supply Company which he owned for 57 years.

On August 10, 1957 he married Rita Falconi Skittle, who passed away September 13, 1995. Left behind to cherish his memory is his son, Matt (Sharon) Skittle Jr. of Pittsburgh, his daughter Elena A. “Lanie” (Keith) Skittle-Watson of Forest Hill Maryland, a brother Mike (Ann) Skittle of Canonsburg a sister, Sylvia (Mickey) Burke of Fredericktown, his longtime companion, Mary Ann Mankey and her family of Washington, three beloved granddaughters; Cassandra and Carly Skittle and Rita Watson and several nieces and nephews.

Friends are welcome from 2-4 and 6-8pm Thursday April 6, 2017 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where a Catholic blessing service will be held at 9 am Friday April 7, 2017. Interment with full military rites accorded by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 and the United States Army Honor Guard will follow at 10am in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Twp. Memorials in Mr. Skittles name are encouraged to be made to the Washington County Humane Society or the National Diabetes Association.
