Mary Lou DiTullio age 76 of Canonsburg, passed away suddenly after a long courageous battle with cancer, on Friday, June 8, 2012 at Canonsburg General Hospital, surrounded by her family.
She was born on May 11, 1936, in Canonsburg, the daughter of the late Mario and Amelia Maggi DiMuzio.
Mrs. DiTullio lived her entire life in Canonsburg where she was a graduate of Canonsburg High School, class of 1954, a long time member of St. Patrick Church, the church choir and the Christian Mother's and Women Guild where she served as past President, current treasurer and several of their side committees. Also was one of the founding members of Canonsburg Italian-American Association, where she helped cook and waitress for their spaghetti dinners and helped start their annual Columbus Day Dinner Dances. Mrs. DiTullio was also very politically active with the Democratic Committees.
She enjoyed shopping, annual trips to the Meadow's Casino, in her earlier years going dancing with her husband and spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren.
On April 18, 1959 she married her beloved husband, Marshall Joseph DiTullio who passed away on October 11, 2000.
Surviving are daughter, Marisa M. (David) Thompson of Philipsburg; son, Mario J. (Gina) DiTullio of Washington; four grandchildren, Joseph, Christopher and Hannah Thompson and Gianna "Gia" DiTullio; two sisters, Rosalie McCoy of Canonsburg and Natalie DiMuzio-Tissot of McMurray; several nieces, nephews, three aunts, and may cousins.
Deceased also is a sister, Theresa M. "Tree" Calabro who passed away in February of 2009.
Friends are welcome on Monday, June 11, 2012 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 PM at Salandra Funeral Service Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120, where a Blessing Service will be held at 9:30AM on Tuesday, June 12, 2012. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00AM in St. Patrick Church. Interment will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Canonsburg. Christian Mother's and Women Guild will recite rosary at 3:00 PM Monday in funeral home. In lieu of flowers family suggest donations be made to American Cancer Society in Mary Lou's memory.
