Mary L. Cadez, 93 of Strabane passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 22, 2018 in Townview Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on March 30, 1925 in Strabane to John and Mary Mezeg Cadez who preceded her in death.
Miss Cadez was a faithful member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Parish in Canonsburg for many years. Her other memberships included SNPJ and KSKJ.
She was employed by Universal Cyclops and was the longest working woman there having retired after 42 years of service.
Her passion was reading. She owned more than 1,000 books and was known to be reading 35 books at a time. She also enjoyed planting a vegetable garden every spring and spending time with nieces and nephews and their families.
Miss. Cadez was the last of her immediate family.
She is survived by her nephews Jim (Laurie), Ron “Buzz” (Debbie), and Jeffrey (Marcy) Cadez all of which she helped raise with her sister-in-law Rose, (who was also her best friend) after their father Jim Cadez passed away at age 42. She is also survived by her nieces Mary Fran Cadez and Judy Smith, her nephews Gary (Mary) Cadez and Bill Cadez and numerous great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers John, Frank and Jim Cadez.
The family would like to thank the staff at Townview for their professional and compassionate care for Mary during her stay there.
Friends are welcome from 9:00 a.m until 11:30 p.m. the time of departing prayers on Thursday, April 26, 2018 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, LFD, owner/supervisor, and Darla A. Tripoli, LFD, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at Noon in St. Patrick Catholic Church, 317 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.
