Mary J. Verna age 90 passed away on June 24, 2010 at Sunrise Living in Severna Park, MD.
She was born on May 26, 1920 in Somerset, Pa., the daughter of the late Matteo and Rose Corso Passalacqua.
Mrs. Verna was a long time resident of Canonsburg, she and her late husband LeRoy owned LeRoy's Music Market. They retired in 1972 after 25 years in business. She was a volunteer with Canonsburg Hospital Auxiliary. Mr. Verna moved to MD in 1987 where she resided until her death.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years LeRoy Verna, and a sister, Carmella Pitzararella.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Lee (Richard) Barto of Glen Burnie, MD; Susan (Joseph) Talarico of Concord, CA.; four grandchildren, Kevin Barto of Prescott, AZ.; Todd (Allison) Barto of Boulder, CO.; Jeremy (Tristanne) of Concord, CA.; and Aubrie Talarico of Rome, Italy, and one great-granddaughter, Trevianna Barto of Boulder, CO.
Family and friends are welcome on Sunday, June 27 2010 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/ supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120, where a Blessing Service will be held on Monday, June 28, 2010 at 11:30 AM. Followed by Mass of Christian Burial in St .Patrick Church at noon. Entombment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray.
