Mary E. Progar Suleski

Mary E. Progar Suleski age 97 of Strabane Trails Village, Washington, formerly of Houston, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 7, 2011 in the Donnell House, Washington.
She was born June 10, 1914 in Forest City, Pa.; the daughter of the late Frank Tomazine and Mary Tomazine Zupanick.
Mrs. Suleski lived most of her life in Strabane and Houston. She was owner of Progar's Superette at Miller Plan for 20 years and worked at Colonial and Pike Pharmacies, retiring in 1988.
She was a member Senior Volunteers of Canonsburg Hospital since 1987 serving a number of terms as President and Vice President and volunteering almost 6000 hours to the hospital. She was a member S.N.P.J. Lodge #138 for 82 years, the KSKJ St. Jerome Lodge #153 for 67 years both of Strabane, a member Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Church, Meadowlands, where she was active in Christian Mothers, Rosary Society and many church organizations. For her many years of devoted service to her church parish and community she received the "Manifesting the Kingdom Award" presented by Bishop Wuerl at St. Paul's Cathedral in Pittsburgh in 2003. Her other interest included cooking, baking, crocheting and reading but above all her first priority was her devotion to family.
On September 18, 1978 she married Anthony Suleski who passed away December 12, 1991.
She is survived by, her devoted sister, Dorothy Marshall of Silver Spring, Maryland; daughter-in-law Barbara Progar of Houston, TX; step-son, William (Nancy) Suleski of Dover, Delaware; brother-in-law, Harry (Dorothy) Suleski of Canonsburg; cousin, Marlene ( Gene) Dammann Fredericksburg, Va.; grandchildren, Brian (Mary) Progar and Kevin Progar both of Houston, TX and Lauren (Jay) Egleston of Jacksonville, FL.; two great-granddaughters, Molly and Elizabeth; several nieces, Beth Hall, Corrine Zupanick, Paula Iannota, Clare Ellis and nephews, James Marshall, Joseph Zupanick and Mike Zupanick.
Deceased also are, son Kenneth Progar who passed away August 8, 1996 and brother,
Joseph Zupanick who passed away April 5, 2004.
Friends are welcome on Sunday, June 10, 2011 from 2:00 to 8:00 pm at Salandra Funeral Service, Inc.; Joseph P. Salandra owner/ supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120, where a Blessing Service will be held Monday, July 11, 2011 at11:30 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:00 PM Noon Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Church, Meadowlands, with Father O'Shea as celebrant. Interment will follow in Oak Spring Cemetery, Canonsburg. Family suggest in lieu of flowers donations be made to Hospice Care of the Washington Hospital, 10 Leet Street Washington, Pa. 15301 in memory of Mary .Christian Mother's and Rosary Society will recite rosary on Sunday at 3:00 PM in funeral home.
