Mary B. Sincek age 95 of Canonsburg passed away peacefully at 6:02am Saturday January 4, 2014 in Manor Care of McMurray. She was born September 12, 1918 in Botlz, Indiana County, a daughter of the late Alexander and Rose Urban Bodnar. Mrs. Sincek lived in Canonsburg most of her life and was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church. She was a founding member of the Canon Coin Club and was also a member of the Jefferson College Historical Society. Se enjoyed knitting and playing cards. Prior to her retirement Mrs. Sincek had been self employed as a hairdresser for many years.
On January 18, 1942 she married John W. Sincek who passed away September 10, 1988. She is survived by her son, John R. (Cheryl) Sincek of Canonsburg, three grandchildren; Douglas, Gregory (Katrina) and Melissa Sincek and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Sincek was the last of her immediate family. Deceased in addition to her husband are four sisters; Julia Kobrys, Helen Nocki, Ethel Smith and Elizabeth Little and four brothers; Joseph, Paul Alexander "Bob" and William Bodnar.
Friends are welcome from 6-8pm Monday and from 2-4 and 6-8pm Tuesday in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where departing prayers will be recited at 10:30 am Wednesday January 8, 2014. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am in St. Patrick Church with interment to follow in St. Patrick Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Sincek's name may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Western Pennsylvania Chapter, River Walk Corporate Center, Pittsburgh PA. 15219.
