Mary (Kern) Simko

Mary Simko, 89 of Canonsburg passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 in Canonsburg Hospital.

She was born on March 4, 1927 in Strabane to Joseph Kern, Sr., and Mary Pere Balle Kern who preceded her in death.

On April 4, 1948 she married Andrew Simko who survives.

She was a faithful member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Canonsburg. She was a member of SNPJ Lodge #138,  KSKJ St. Jerome Lodge #153 and AFU Lodge #149 all of Strabane.

She worked at Canonsburg Pottery for 33 years.

She loved to shop, clean and spend time with her husband and daughter.

Surviving in addition to her loving husband, Andrew, she is survived by her daughter Terri Simko of Houston and one brother, Frank Kern (Helen) of Pittsburgh.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Jean Kern, and brothers Joseph, Richard and James Kern.

Friends are welcome from 3~7 PM on Friday, February 17, 2017 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc, Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120 where departing prayers will begin at 9:00 AM on Saturday, February 18, 2017. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30 AM in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 317 West Pike Street, Canonsburg. Interment will be private and at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville.
