Mary "Mitzie" Mavrich

Mary "Mitzie" Mavrich age 87 of Canonsburg, died at 2:30 pm Thursday, November 17, 2011 in her home. She was born March 16, 1924 in Washington a daughter of the late Anthony and Sophie Dukovich Skariot. Mrs. Mavrich lived most of her adult life in Strabane, where she was a homemaker and a member of St. Patrick R.C. Church. She was an avid bowler who bowled with the Tuesday night and Sunday women's leagues at the SNPJ in Strabane. She had been a 50 year member in both the CFU lodge of Cokeburg and the SNPJ lodge 138 of Strabane. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and Sunday family dinners.
On April 11, 1953 she married Anthony R. "Titch" Mavrich who died July 26, 2002. Mrs. Mavrich is survived by two sons; Dennis (Ellen) Mavrich of McMurray and Frank A. (Amy) Mavrich of Canonsburg, four granddaughters; Katie (James) Green, Emily, Catherine and Angela Mavrich, two sisters; Jennie (Walter) Sibert of Alta Loma, California and Mildred (Edwin) Chesnic of Canonsburg, a brother John Skariot of Washington and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are four brothers, Frank, Steve, Joseph and Thomas Skariot and a sister Helen Kaskie.
Friends are welcome from 1-4 and 6-8pm Sunday in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where a blessing service will be held at 9:30 am Monday November 21, 2011. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Monday in St. Patrick church Canonsburg. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
